The Real Beginning of AKE AKE: 15 Years Ago

Back when global silver prices were stable, jewelry designers from around the world were searching for skilled manufacturers. And almost every Christmas season, many of them came to Thailand — to a place known for over a century as one of the finest silver craftsmanship hubs in Bangkok.

In a small office on Khaosan Road, one of our regular clients brought in a catalog from his German brand. The designs looked refined, luxurious, and were priced in euros, clearly positioned as high-end jewelry.

The piece he wanted us to produce was a pair of dangling sterling silver earrings with a crystal ball detail. Like any professional manufacturer, we calculated everything carefully: silver cost, craftsmanship, assembly, finishing, and all underlying business factors.

We understood his world — import taxes, packaging, retail margins, department store fees, marketing costs.

So, we gave him the best possible price.

But like many designers, he wrote down a number. Circled it. And insisted:

“This is the price I need.”

It was a price that made every craftsman in the room pause.

Because we knew how to reach that price.

But we also knew what it would cost, not in money, but in quality.

We could skip polishing and use needle-texture finishing.
We could thin down the earring posts to save silver.
We could hollow out the back, darken details to hide imperfections.

These are common tricks in mass production.

But for us who are raised in a family of silversmiths, it felt wrong!

We didn’t want to create something “good enough.”
We wanted to create something we were proud of.

So, a question emerged:

Why don’t we create our own brand — and make the best silver jewelry we truly believe in?

On March 29, 2012, AKE AKE was born.

A brand built from our own name.
A symbol of identity.
A commitment to craftsmanship without compromise.

From handmade packaging, velvet details, and the very first pieces sold through friends and online platforms — AKE AKE slowly grew.

Today, it stands as one of the fiercest sterling silver jewelry brands in Thailand.
